Textual analysis of a music magazine double page spread
This doublepage spread is from Q magazine.
The image – mise en scene
The image – mise en scene
The denotation of the image is of the famous singer shakira she is sitting leisurely with her feet on top of a studio table.
The setting is a studio and the reason why I think they chose to have a studio as a setting was because of the theme which in this case is music.
The image is in high key lighting and this is so that everything in the image can be seen and isn’t dark in any areas and there aren’t shadows. The purpose of this double page spread shows an interview had with the singer shakira.
Her non verbal communication is friendly from her body posture and the gestures she makes and this has been done on purpose for both the singer’s popularity and the magazine’s sales.
The text – anchorage
The smaller texts and the title are in serif font where as the letter S is in Sans serif font e.g. S
The structure of the text is that it is in columns and in small font size and the font colour is in basic black it’s a simple black on white effective with the exception of the red font that says studio.
There are a few letters in bold and that is a quote chosen by the editor that tries to catch the eye of its readers so that they get interested and start reading the article.
